Log truck loses load causing chaos in Carthage

A logging truck lost part of its logs on Highway 24/27 at Bethlehem Church Road in Carthage on Monday. Moore County Emergency Dispatch Centers received the call at approximately 2 p.m.

Carthage Fire and Rescue Department arrived to find an eighteen-wheeler truck with its rear right of the bed in a ditch, and logs spilled on the side of the road. The driver was not injured. 

Subsequently, at approximately 2:50 p.m., during the removal of the logging truck and the debris, a three-car rear-end collision occurred. The collision caused minor damage. Fire and police were still on the scene, and EMS was requested to respond.

Moore County EMS evaluated all the passengers in the three vehicles. No one was transported to the hospital at the time of publication. 

Both lanes of Highway 24/27 were closed.
